For
Gay and Lesbian Teens:
The
following sites and resources are intended to be a source of outreach
and support to young people who are either exploring same gender relationships
or who already identify themselves as part of the gay community. The resources
listed here are generally well known and have proven useful to teens who
visit them. Please exercise caution when contacting other sites not listed
here. When visiting chat rooms, you are advised never to give out your
name, address and/or other personal information. Never arrange to meet
face to face with a person alone, even if the contact appears
to live locally.
The
Youth Advocate can also help with either locating or starting a new group
or to support you individually. Info on
contacting the Youth Advocate is located on the Teen Intro Page.
Go Ask Alice! From
their Web site: "Go Ask Alice! is the health question and answer
Internet service produced by Alice!, Columbia University's Health Education
Program-a division of Columbia University Health and Related Services.
The mission of Go Ask Alice! is to increase access to, and use of, health
information by providing factual, in-depth,
straight-forward, and nonjudgmental information to assist readers' decision-making
about their physical, sexual, emotional, and spiritual health."
This is a great source for information about gay, lesbian, bisexual and
trans-gendered persons. Once at their Home Page, click "Relationships,"
then click the sub-heading (in blue) "Gay, Lesbian, or Questioning."
